Journey to the Centre of the Earth
This movie, taking inspiration from Jules Verne's book of the same name, follows a professor, Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser) and his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) as they embark on a Journey to find Sean's father after receiving a beacon in Iceland. Meeting their guide, Hannah (Anita Briem), the trio begin their journey trapped in a cave during a thunderstorm that caused the entrance to cave in. Venturing deeper and deeper, the trio make a discovery that they are journeying to the centre of the Earth, with everything that Jules Verne describing within his novel becoming reality. However, as volcanic activity begins to create an uninhabitable environment, the trio must escape quickly.
This is an excellent movie to watch with the family. The Journey showcases character development with a fair amount of both comedic and dramatic moments. The pacing of the story is fairly good, a little rushed in sections however. Despite this, the movie is a great flick. While the movie hasn't aged very well with its CGI, the storyline and character development and interactions makes the audience enjoy watching every second of the movie.
