Movie Review: Baby Driver
Hi, Movie Review time. Today we gonna review a movie which has a strong reputation in North America and has 8.2 points high score on IMDB. It's Baby Driver. There must be some special reason that can make an action movie getting such a high score.
Baby Driver is wonderful because of it very smart to find the rhythm and appearance of the audience would expect to see in an action movie. Nowadays, audiences are no longer just go to the cinema to watch the tokenistic gesture and Fried Fried to special effects but also must be based on the integrated into more fresh elements, will make a movie glow vitality.
Synopsis:
Baby is the getaway driver in Atlanta. He survived a car accident that killed his parents and left his ears ringing and discovered the cathartic effects of music. Baby, a teenager, is caught by Doc after unwittingly stealing a car with Doc's loot. Later, Baby is responsible for transporting the robbers assembled by Doc to pay off the debt. Between jobs, he remixed recorded conversations and took care of his dead adoptive father, Joseph. At Bo's Diner, he meets a waitress named Debora, and they start dating.
Armed bystanders chased the baby, and the baby's next robbery went horribly wrong, but the baby eluded him and the police. After paying off the debt, Baby asks to quit his criminal life and starts shipping pizza. Doc interrupts Baby's appointment with Debora and insists that he join in the post office robbery, threatening to refuse Debora and Joseph to harm him.
Review:
I saw the shadow of Fast & Furious in Baby Driver. Although it was not as large as the structure of the movie, it told us an old but beautiful story in the space where it could be played, which is very rare.
The best thing about Baby Driver is that the music is just right. Please note that the word "just right" is definitely not just a foil, but an integral part of the movie. Let's imagine if Baby Driver had all the musical elements removed, it would just be a very ordinary car racing action movie, no matter how high or low it is, but with those "just right" music, it would be a big plus, just like The Avenger's grade is greatly enhanced. Since the beginning of the film during the robbery, and buy coffee long, every scene to the next, the hearts of the audience have been silent with the music association, in other words, if there is no music in the movie, will and men like baby felt vaguely flustered and does not adapt, this raises a strong resonance between the film and the audience, also makes the music elements appear in the film is more appropriate.
But there's a bit of a disconnect. It may be that the director played too far ahead and brought too much emotion into it. In the second half, the changes of roles, including some changes in the painting style, caught the audience off guard, which may be one of the shortcomings of the movie. But despite the flaws, the pace is brisk and there is nothing to write home about.
